ARMED ROBBERY / SHOOTING - ELANDSDRIFT

During the early hours of Sunday morning two armed suspects attacked tenants in a cottage in Elandsdrift. The suspects literally walked around the cottage and broke a window on each side to get the attention of the occupants.
At one of the bedroom windows which they broke, they opened the curtain and found a young man standing inside the room. They pointed him with a firearm and then started demanding various items through the window.
The young man thought that it would be best to adhere to their demands but when he bent down to pick up his cell phone to hand it to them the suspect opened fire through the broken window. The youngster fell to the ground and thank goodness was not injured.
He kept on shouting that he would give them what they wanted and handed them a laptop and cell phone.
The suspects then walked to the front kitchen door forced the security door and door and entered the cottage.
They overpowered the rest of the tenants, forced them into a room and made off with more expensive equipment.
Our Tactical Units were dispatched and upon arrival saw the two fleeing suspects. Our men gave chase and the suspects dropped some of the stolen items which were handed back to the tenants. They ran off in the direction of Nooitgedacht. They received a few "stern" warnings from the men.
Our Specialised Investigation Unit was at the scene and recovered a projectile in the room where the shots were fired at the youngster.
Informers have already been tasked and some interesting information has been obtained.
The Iron Fist Squad was dispatched to do patrols on known escape routes in the area. The hunt is on.

Just after the attack and shooting we received a report from a non-client that two more armed robberies on smallholdings were reported earlier during the night.
During one of these incidents it was reported that a 28-year old female was also raped.
The description given by the victims of these two incidents were exactly the same as was given to us by our client.

At the last incident the suspects forced the victims to hand over their bank cards with the pin codes.
As soon as we were informed about this numerous Tactical units were dispatched to ATM machines in the area to see if anyone suspicious and fitting the description of the assailants were attempting to withdraw cash.
