A 39-year-old woman from Georginia, Elise Pieterse, was severely assaulted on Friday night but she says she received no satisfaction from both Roodepoort or Florida Police stations when she tried to open a case.
Pieterse and her husband were waiting outside her place of work close to Goldman Crossing for her sister in law’s daughter, when she needed to use the bathroom. She walked up to the Spar in order to use their toilet facilities. When she came out a stranger started hitting her in the face for no reason. She fell to the ground and bystanders helped her up. She ran to her husband but when he went looking for the man he could not find him. Pieterse added the man looked drugged and disorientated.
Her husband immediately then took her to Ontdekkers Hospital where a doctor attended to her injuries as well as filled out a report. She was bruised, lost a tooth and has a gash in her lower lip.
They then went to Roodepoort Police to report the incident but were told the police could not open a case due to her not knowing the suspect. They then went to Florida Police Station but were told the same.
