In a shooting incident this week in the Bonteheuwel area in Cape Town, a father was shot in the head while waiting for a taxi. He died on the scene.
Police spokeswoman, Constable Noloyiso Rwexana, confirmed police were at the scene about 4:45pm on Monday. The body of 32-year-old Riaan Brown was found on Taaibos street. He was on his way home when he was killed.

Brown’s younger brother, Anthony van der Wat said Brown was shot while returning from work when “rival gangs started shooting at each other, and when one gang member saw him standing there, he decided to shoot him. He was a working man who was not part of any gang.”
Brown was shot twice in the head according to his brother. Brown was married with three children.

“I can’t explain the way I feel right now. He was a true older brother, he always checked up on me to see how I was since I live in Mitchells Plain. We will never recover from this,” he said.
Another incident occurred on Monday, where one victim died and the other transported to hospital.
Rwexana said the incident occurred on Monday “at about 9pm at Prunus Street, Bonteheuwel.”
“According to the reports, police attended to the crime scene and upon arrival they found two victims with gunshot wounds. A 42-year-old man died on the scene due to his injuries. The other victim was transported to hospital for medical treatment,” she said.
There has been no arrest in either case, but cases of murder and attempted murder are being investigated.
She said circumstances relating to both shootings are unknown at this stage according to the Cape Argus.
