#ATTACK: Woman hiding inside a cupboard, during a shootout in a home invasion in Glen Anil

Black armed attackers shot dead in Glen Anil

A Durban North man shot dead three balaclava clad armed robbers during a shootout in a home invasion according to Blue Security.
Blue Security operations manager Brian Jackson said the company’s control centre had responded to a panic alarm in Welwitchia Road in Glen Anil at 7.47pm. He said the resident had told staff that there were suspects on the premises and that she was hiding inside a cupboard.
“A neighbour, who happened to be a former policeman, heard noises coming from a property and went outside to investigate standing next to a wall with his firearm,” he said.
“When the suspects saw him, they opened fire on him. He returned fire and shot three suspects who managed to run back towards the home. Two suspects were declared dead at the scene and the third was taken to hospital where he died later. A fourth suspect is still on the run. Police recovered three firearms, a sledgehammer, a crowbar, boltcutters and a blue light at the scene,” he said.
“When our armed response officers arrived at the scene they found two suspects lying inside the lounge and a third suspect lying outside near the kitchen door. A blue Golf GTI was parked in reverse on the property which contained a blue light and house-breaking implements. The bonnet was facing the road for a quick getaway that never transpired.” he said.
Jackson said the resident and her neighbor were not injured during the incident but Crisis Care Durban North had attended the scene to assist the victim.
Greenwood Park SAPS attended the scene of the crime.
