Cape Town – A second suspect has been arrested for the murder of Stellenbosch University graduate Carl Schoombie three months after the brutal attack.

Schoombie and three friends were on their way home from a Claremont nightclub when he was dragged from his Uber and beaten. He was admitted to hospital in a coma but died a few days later.
Brent Henry appeared in court on February 3. Lee Schoombie, Carl's brother, confronted Henry outside the Cape Town court. The accused denied having killed Schoombie, an eNCA video shows.

CAPE TOWN, 03 February 2016 - Carl Schoombie died a horrific death after two clubgoers mistook him for a man they’d been brawling with at a popular Cape Town club.Now a taxi driver arrested for the young man’s murder has laid the blame for the killing on his friend. Brent Henry claims he had tried to break up the fight.Today he tried to apologise to Schoombie’s brother outside the Wynberg Magistrate's Court.


CAPE TOWN, 03 February 2016 - Carl Schoombie died a horrific death after two clubgoers mistook him for a man they’d been brawling with at a popular Cape Town club.
The second suspect, a 36-year-old man, was arrested in Johannesburg at the weekend in connection with the case, the Cape Argus reported.
The two assailants were said to have been at the club, Tiger Tiger, and accused the victims of having started a fight earlier that night, police Captain FC van Wyk told News24 at the time of the incident.
A R65 000 reward was put up to find the second co-accused, Lee, told News24 in January.
Speaking on Facebook page, ‘Justice for CARL’ after the second suspect was arrested, Lee said: “My family and I cannot THANK you enough, for your constant support! We couldn't have done this without you.
“The search is over... the fight for justice will continue in court!”
The suspect was due to appear in court on Monday.
